Climb every mountain: Life lessons from a Winter Olympian
Ted Polglaze grew up on the beaches of Perth and like all his mates played footy (Aussie Rules) in winter and surf-lifesaving in summer. At a young age he watched the Olympics on TV and told his older siblings that he wanted to go to the Olympics when he got older. From that point on, everything Ted did was geared towards achieving his goal. By putting in place the steps necessary to achieve his goal, opportunities came along that he never could have imagined as an 8-year old doing beach flags on Scarborough Beach. Learning the process of working towards goals, rather than just having them – and dealing with disappointments along the way – has been the real lesson for Ted, which has extended beyond sport to wider and more important aspects of his life.
